Tour Description/Daily Itinerary:

Fill your senses & appetites traveling to Nonesuch, Versailles, Bardstown & the Historic Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in the heart of the Bluegrass State while sampling bourbon, specialty shopping, tour distilleries & much more!

Day 1:
Noon arrival with a dining experience at the Glitz Restaurant in Nonesuch, KY which exudes elegance of design and has earned a 1989 national design award for the “glitzy” black & mauve interior. Grapevines and flowers tangle across the walls and ceilings which bask in twinkling lights of candles. Your visit to The Glitz is a feast for your senses as well as your appetite. Surrounded by specialty shops Irish Acres Gallery of Antiques displays 32,000 square feet of American and European furniture, glassware, china, crystal, silver, linens, dolls, jewelry, rugs, decorative accessories and International giftware. Tour Woodford Reserve Bourbon Distillery for a guided tour and sample the original Woodford Reserve Bourbon Ball Cocktail. Check in to overnight rooms at Shaker Village. Spending the night at Historic Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill is truly a restful experience. Shaker Village is one of only three properties in Kentucky listed in the current Zagat Survey of the Top U.S. Hotels, Resorts & Spas. A great hearty dinner will be in Shaker Village Trustee’s Office. Day 2:
Enjoy your full Breakfast in the Trustee’s Office, check-out and meet your guide for a Tour Of Shaker Village at Pleasant Hill. The Shakers, so named because of the vigorous trembling they experienced in their devotional dancing, believed in simplicity, pacifism, celibacy and separation from the world. Almost 500 people lived here during their peak in the 1830’s. There are 30 original buildings still standing today. Depart from the village for Bardstown with lunch on own Take a Guided Tour of the Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History located in Spalding Hall. This museum chronicles the history of the American Whiskey Industry. The collection includes rare documents, advertising posters & other memorabilia from pre-Colonial days through the 1960’s. Also displayed are a confiscated copper still that belonged to George Washington and a number of pre-Prohibition whiskey bottles and containers, including a 1854 E.C. Booz bottle, the brand from which the word “booze” originated. Depart for home. (B)
